Alisdair Smith

National Learning Facilitator, CUSOURCE Credit Union Knowledge Network

Alisdair is National Facilitator for CUSOURCE Credit Union Knowledge Network and Credit Union Central of Canada. April 2014 marks his 20th anniversary in the system, serving boards and senior leaders of credit unions large and small from St. John’s to Victoria. He challenges people with respect and humour and is known for helping groups drive to outcomes.  Some of his most important work has been in helping teams and boards of directors work through challenging and difficult decisions and issues, such as mergers, intra-team conflict, dramatic change in direction, ethical dilemmas and fragmenting board/CEO relationships. That he is consistently invited back to work with these groups is a testament to his work. He is passionate about the future of credit unions, and especially enjoys his work with the next generation of leaders across Canada.

Alisdair holds an MA in Theology and Ethics, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University, and a Diploma in Applied Arts in Radio and Television from The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He is certified in Managing Organizational Transition by William Bridges & Associates (Mill Valley, CA, certified as a Leader for Business as Unusual and The Employee Workshop for Organizational Change by Price Pritchett & Associates (Dallas TX), certified as a Trainer for all Zenger-Miller programs, and certified as a Trainer in Team Building by The Lead Group (Chicago IL).  Alisdair also has his DiSC® certification and is an Accredited Canadian Credit Union Director (ACCUD).

Alisdair is Deacon & Business Chaplain at Christ Church Anglican Cathedral in Vancouver, serves as a facilitator for the Dalai Lama Centre, the SFU Community Square Dialogues, both in Vancouver and works in his spare time serving community organizations across Canada.
